Within the framework of Social Responsibility activities being developed by IQE is the sponsorship of the first Centenary of the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido.
It was on August 16, 1918 when the Royal Decree signed by King Alfonso XIII was published, declaring National Park to Ordesa Valley and one hundred years later, coinciding with the same date, the Government of Aragón, with the sponsorship of a group of Aragonese companies, has developed an extensive program of commemorative events.
During the inauguration of these commemorative events, Minister of Rural Development and Sustainability, Joaquín Olona, commited to reconcile the economic development of the area, public use and conservation, in order to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants.
The acts culminated with a tribute to the French Lucien Briet, laying a bunch of flowers at the statue raised in his honor. Briet, together with the Marquis of Villaviciosa, Pedro Pidal, were two of the forerunners of “pirineísmo”.
